Our mission

Save our Babies is an organisation that funds research into repairing brain damage that occurs at, or shortly before birth. Severe brain damage that occurs at birth can result in death, and in those that survive often leads to serious lifelong problems such as Cerebral Palsy, which affects 17 million people worldwide.

Even though perinatal forms of brain injury affect a large number of people worldwide little money is spent in actually trying to find a cure. Save our Babies seeks to change this by funding cutting edge research in the field of brain repair.

What's the problem?

Injury to the infant brain can occur during pregnancy, birth, or shortly after birth and can lead to forms of brain damage such as periventricular leukomalacia and hypoxic–ischaemic encephalopathy. Brain damage can lead to multiple problems such as:

  • hearing and vision loss
  • cognitive impairments
  • speech impediments
  • movements and coordination difficulties
  • seizures 
  • difficulties with socializing
